Subsiding out of the Capital of New York State, just 2 hours north of New York City in beautiful Upstate New York!
Art. What is art? Well, it can be a lot of different things for a lot of different people. To me, as an artist, art is an extension of myself, my life, my feelings, my inspirations, and basically everything that’s in my head!
I'll grab a solid material, and I’ll cut it, grind it, weld it, forge it, and completely reshape it! Re-invent it! I can see it as it is and also as what it could be. That is what I love about art! it’s fun & Infinite. I’ve let it completely consume me and I’m okay with that!
I think it all started when I was a kid, my mom saved a few drawings and paintings from when I was four or five years old. They were pretty good for that age (so I’ve been told lol).
I always took an interest in all the arts throughout high school, and I even went on to college for a few years where my focus was fine arts, graphic design, and some philosophy classes.
I’ve had my fair share of non-art type jobs like working in warehouses and delivery, etc.. Around 2010 I started tattooing and I fell in love with it! I’ve been a tattoo artist for over 10 years now & still going!! I just love Art! All kinds!
..but I wanted more, carpe diem.. seize the day!
I felt the need to stay busy.
Then I watched this TV show called “Forged In Fire” on the History channel in 2015, I was immediately a fan of it. I started forging swords and knives right away! I was self-taught in blacksmithing by using YouTube videos.
And by 2016 I established my own Blacksmithing forge named Clean Slate Forge.
Then something really, really surreal happened to me. The Forged In Fire show contacted me and they placed me on an episode. It was a really fun and rewarding experience! Which created new opportunities where I made a lot of new friends who are also talented and creative in metalworking. Inspiration!!
I still like forging traditional Blacksmithing and Bladesmithing such as swords, knives, and other types of fun metal forging projects!
I even made a 200lb Chandelier for a famous YouTube Creator, Andrew Camarata, for his amazing shipping container Castle!
So how did my Sculpture journey begin?
Well, I was gifted a welder by a Tattoo client of mine in 2017. I started welding everything I could find, and it was so much fun!
I love utilizing, repurposing, and recycling old materials to create art. I love the challenge!
It’s like a giant metal puzzle.
Then one day I was looking on Instagram and came across this Australian artist, Jordan Sprigg. He’s been a huge inspiration to me in my sculpture work, along with a few other artists like Kevin Stone, Ivan iler, Brian Mock & Ptolemy Elrington! Of course, there are many, many other inspiring sculpture artists of many different media out there! But, these are just a handful that happened to inspire me!
It has definitely been a deep, humbling, soul-searching, challenging, fun & rewarding journey for me!
I look forward to growing, learning & building more Sculptures!
I’m genuinely excited about further exploring new ideas & possibilities within each new project I pursue!
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my Sculptures!
